Health vs Possessions
Planning ahead with your health
It unfortunately seems in modern society that people value their possessions more than themselves or their family. Nine out of ten people will insure their carpet, furniture, mobile phone, computer or other household implements or accessories, but how many cover themselves and their family with a healthcare plan, income protection plan or critical illness policy, other than when taken with a mortgage.
Why do we think so little of ourselves, and leave so much to chance, especially considering the state of many countries’ national health services. Think about it, what would you do if suddenly you could not work for months, waiting for treatment because of a serious illness, would you be able to manage on the money you would get from the benefits office, would it cover any bills you may have coming in on a regular monthly basis e.g. credit card bills, gas, electric, food, rent?
What is the point of that nice new carpet or sofa, if you are not there to appreciate it?
