Mexico Insurance Information |

In a country famous for its vibrancy and nationalism, you can rest assured you will feel the energy and hospitality of Mexico on your visit. Mexico has been renowned worldwide for decades as a major tourist destination and will be able to provide the traveler or the expatriate almost every kind of adventure under the sun or water (or under a roof if you prefer). Due to this wide variety of draws, there are now over 8,000 hotels in the country with over 322,000 hotel rooms. There are another 88,000 guest facilities such as luxury villas and monthly rental apartments. Every year over 20 million travelers from around the world flock to the country to enjoy its famous white sandy beaches, year round warm weather, archaeological sites, friendly people, and of course the Mexican food. Besides the obvious, there is much more to Mexico, as it has a rich history that dates back some 4,500 years. Mexico City alone is over 700 years old, making it the oldest continuously inhabited metropolis in the Western Hemisphere (the Americas). Mexico is an upper middle income country that is predicted, by Goldman Sachs, to become one of the top economically powerful countries, by the year 2050, after: China, India, United States, and Brazil. Mexico has an excellent educational system especially in the fields of medicine and science, which is comparable in standard to many advanced nations.
Mexico, which is officially known as The United Mexican States, has a long elaborate history that has allowed the country to become an alluring fusion of European and Meso-American cultures. Many highly developed cultures throughout the centuries have shaped what Mexico is today, which has caused the country and its culture to stand out. The Amerindian cultures of the Olmecs, Mayans, Toltecs, and Aztecs created many beautiful archaeological sites such as Teotihuacan, Chichen Itza, and the Temple of the Warriors. Mexico contains the largest pyramids in the world, bigger and in more quantity than Egypt. These advanced civilizations are credited with inventions and advancements in astronomy, medicine, and theology. They also created a complex system of numbers, which is the predecessor of the Mayan Calendar. Mexico was under Spanish rule for over 300 years after Hernando Cortes from Spain invaded and conquered the Aztecs in 1521AD. The 300 years of Spanish colonialism have left their mark on the land and its people. Mexico has become the most populated Spanish speaking country in the world and the second most populated that follows the Catholic religion. You can easily see the pre-Colonial architecture along side the multitudes of Baroque and Gothic churches, mansions, palaces, and castles.
Mexico has been turning heads for centuries because it can offer anything a traveler or expatriate can think of, however what most people don't think of (or at least not at first) about Mexico is that this country is not only rich in ancient history but that Mexico is a modern country that is highly educated (the literacy rate at 97%) and technologically advanced. The Royal and Pontifical University of Mexico is one of the first Universities constructed in North or South America, which was founded in Mexico City in 1551. The National Autonomous University (UNAM) of Mexico ranks 15th place in the Top 200 World universities and it is considered to be the largest one campus university in all the Americas. Mexicans have invented the first automatic rifle and the first oral contraceptive pill was produced by a company started in Mexico City.
Mexico is a country full of things to see and do. Being one of the more populated countries with one of the most populated cities in the world, where the population in and around Mexico City is nearly 22 million, there will be something for everyone. You can visit the many museums, walk through the old colonial plazas or view the Gothic Spanish architecture such as the beautiful San Miguel church which was built in 1683.
Mexico is a diverse country that will make you feel that you are in different worlds depending at where you look and where you go. Any city in this country can look as time has stood still with narrow winding streets, colonial buildings and ancient ruins while, at the same time, if you look at another direction you will see the many modern shopping malls and hear the stimulating beats coming from the many nightclubs and bars.
If you love the beach, year round ideal weather, visiting beautiful national parks, viewing the natural beauty or man made ancient ruins, staying at luxury resorts where you can do anything your heart desires, shopping, or dancing the night away, than Mexico will be the right place for you.
Traveling abroad can be both exciting and aggravating, but it is important for expatriates to know where to go for quality medical treatment during your journeys.
