Kyrgyzstan was once a member of the Soviet Union; it is a landlocked country, sharing its borders with Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and China. Kyrgyzstan is a paradise for trekkers and campers, who visit the country for the Issk Kuk Lake or mountains spread across the country. Despite a steadily growing tourist industry, the country has not been able to create a strong economy since breaking away from the Soviet Union.
