Kenya is able to provide some quality healthcare service in either Nairobi or Mombasa. Many of the other hospitals will not be able to provide you with anything other than emergency treatment. Most of the hospitals are running at over capacity with a shortage of medical supplies. Due to the poor management and drastic cuts in the health care system most, if not all, rural hospitals and facilities are strongly not recommended as venues for receiving health care treatment.

In rural areas where access to medical treatment is hard to obtain, the clinics and medical facilities will typically only be able to provide immediate emergency services and will not be able to provide any long term care. Patients that will be requiring more immediate emergency care will often be evacuated to an alternative medical facility in a city or to another country. For these reasons we highly recommend you to have a comprehensive insurance plan.
