You are advised to be aware of heavy rains. Floods and landslides have occured in the north, north east and south of Brazil. These natural disasters had claimed several lives and made thousands of people homeless. The most affected areas are the states of Amapa, Amazonas, Bahia, Ceará, Maranhão, Piauí, Paraíba, Rio Grande do Norte, Alagoas, Pará, Sergipe and Santa Catarina. You are advised to monitor media reports for the latest news.
There is a high threat of crime and violence, especially in major cities. There are frequent violent clashes between the police and drug gangs in slums. You are advised to avoid these areas, stay alert and be aware of local conditions at all times.

There is a general threat from terrorism. Attacks cannot be ruled out and could be indiscriminate. Vistors are advised to avoid places frequented by expatriates and foreign travellers.
You are advised to be aware of the risks of crime. There has been an increase in racially motivated attacks. Visitors of Asian or Afro-Caribbean descent should take extra care.
You are advised to be aware of the widespread of Drug trafficking in Brazil. Severe penalties will be incurred if you are convicted of an offense.
